I think the minimal blue colour for the bg is perfect for the scene, because the focus IS the characters!!!!

Awesome, I really like how the focus is on the two chessplayers because they're the only ones coloured with more than just blue. Also, I really love the way she's sitting, and the expressions on both of their faces.

She's got a nice outfit, too. ;P

Still love the sketch version, but diggin' the colours you picked for the characters; especilly shading/lighting effects and the robot's colours. :clap:
